The old PC that I picked up for free about a week ago doesn’t have working disk drives. I made a Windows 98 boot disk but the drives just weren’t having it.
Went back to the table today and there were a whole buck of old PCs to choose from. Picked this guy up. I’m looking forward to gutting it!

Make a bootable CD or USB drive so you can test the components before you waste any more time moving drives. The problem may be the IDE or SATA controller (depending on how old the motherboard is) and not the drives.
